Living With Back Pain And How You Can Better Deal With It

January 31st, 2010 by admin

If you are living a life in pain I know what you are going through because I suffer with chronic back pain. If you have been in pain for a long time you understand how sometimes we feel that things will never get better. I want to give you some helpful tips for when you think you just can not take the pain anymore. I want you to know that you are not alone.

I felt so alone for a long time in my life. No one understood my pain not even the family that loved me so I felt that I could not talk to them about it. I felt as though it would be me and the pain forever. It is easy to let depression overcome you when you are in pain for weeks, months, or years. Don’t let it get you down.

A therapist can help so make an appointment. Everyone needs someone they can talk to and psychiatrist make a living doing just that. A therapist is great at listening and even talking. Depression is not only brought on by the pain but can be caused by the sleepless nights caused by your pain.

Your mind and body start to feel the effects of the nights you do not sleep. This is also something a therapist can help you with. If I had a hard time doing something it would make me even more upset than I already was especially when it was something that I needed to do in the house or around it. There was one time when I needed to put the hoover wet dry vacuum in the garage shed and I could not because of the pain.

The pain was too much and I finally just sat down and cried. That is when I started seeing the therapist. She really helped me. I was feeling better mentally but I still had my pain to deal with. So I started taking vegetarian glucosamine. This is a safe supplement and the glucosamine in it is what helps repair cartilage. It has not stopped my pain and I do not know for certain if it is even helping at all.

But I did just start it so I will continue to take it. The point is if you are in serious pain then do something about it. Do not sit around feeling sorry for yourself and letting the pain beat you down. You are a strong person so get up and fight back.

When depression hits then get an appointment with a psychiatrist, when the pain is too much then try a supplement. Do not give in to your problem you have to fight back. You can do things to help yourself so do them. You should keep fighting back.

January 29th, 2010 by Martin Rossi

The Pain of Fibromyalgia

The experience of fibromyalgia pain can be so severe that many patients find they are unable to perform normal daily activities and in extreme cases can be near debilitating. Therefore it is critical to find the type of therapy that will work for your particular fibromyalgia pain to allow you to resume as close to normal life as soon as possible.

Diagnosis of Fibromyalgia

Because the treatment of fibromyalgia pain is often quite different than the treatment of other types of pain, it is very important to get an accurate diagnosis of your condition. Unfortunately there are not any simple tests that can be done to give a definitive diagnosis of fibromyalgia. A variety of diagnostic tests will be done so your physician can rule out other diseases and conditions. The diagnosis is then made based on the symptoms you do have and excluding the possible conditions your doctor determines that you do not have. This process may take a little time, but it is important to get an accurate diagnosis so that appropriate fibromyalgia treatment can be started.

Fibromyalgia Syndrome Pain Treatment

After an accurate diagnosis of fibromyalgia syndrome has been established, your doctor can start to treat you. What works for one fibromyalgia patient may not work for another so the appropriate treatment for your fibromyalgia pain will be specific to you. Treatment will focus on your most severe symptoms with both nondrug and drug treatment used. Two key nondrug components are aerobic exercise and stress reduction. Both of these nondrug treatments can have significant results. Education is critical and you can do quite a bit of research on your own to help the education process. Some of the drugs commonly used are: sleep aids, pain medications and pain modifiers, medications for depression and muscle relaxants. Trying to arrive at a combination of medications that can help your fibromyalgia pain without making you too sleepy (at least during the daytime) is the goal. The correct therapy combination will decrease your pain and allow you to lead a more normal life.
